Bird’s you can see surrounding Glenfield include; Herons, Buzzards, Red Kites, Starlings, Tawny Owl’s, Black Birds, Gold Finches, Magpies, Crows, Tree Pipits and Moorhens
A reintroduction program for Red Kites began in England and Scotland in 1989, with Yorkshire being the fifth area to see the birds released back into the wild, in 1999. Young birds that had been successfully reared in the Chiltern Hills in South East England were released at the Harewood Estate, and now there are tens of them living in our area. You are guaranteed to see them souring above you whilst you are with us.
The Chorus of Opera North and a brass ensemble from the Orchestra of Opera North are joined by 150 children from Windmill and Low Road Primary Schools who have been participating in Opera North’s In Harmony Community Residency programme. This half hour concert of much-loved Christmas hymns interspersed with rousing brass band music begins at 2.30pm on the ground floor of Trinity Leeds (near the Apple Store). Nestled in a peaceful corner of the West Yorkshire spa town of Ilkley, set against a backdrop of rolling green hills lies the Ilkley pool and Lido. Dating back to 1935, the pool and café retain their original Art Deco features with contemporary additions like a children’s paddling pool and water slide thrown in. If it gets too chilly, you can escape to the heated indoor swimming pool or head for the on-site tennis courts and putting green for fun on dry land.
A non-competitive cycle sportive to raise money and awareness for Epilepsy. Starting and finishing at the Army Foundation College, Harrogate. Riders will spend the majority of their time cycling through the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
